YAKIMA — A Yakima County man in his 30s is the 13th swine flu death this year in Washington.
The Yakima County Health District said he had underlying health conditions that put him at risk for complications from the virus.
The district said seven other people in Yakima County have tested positive this month for swine flu.
The state Department of Health reported there have been 148 people hospitalized with the flu in the current outbreak.
Spokesman Tim Church said state and local officials are preparing for the expected arrival of swine flu vaccine in mid-October. Meanwhile, Church said, people should get the seasonal flu shot, which is already available.
