EVERETT — A man died early Thursday in an apparent stabbing that occurred in a wooded area near the Pinehurst neighborhood, Everett police said.
Detectives expected to book a 19-year-old man on first-degree murder charges in the death, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
“These two individuals knew each other, so this is not a random act of violence,” Goetz said.
Police received a call about a possible stabbing near the 7800 block of Broadway shortly before 2 a.m., he said. Officers arrived to find the body of a man in his 20s.
He was in the woods 20 to 30 feet from the road. The man appeared to have several stab wounds.
The body was found down a slight embankment from the roadway, close to Jazwieck’s miniature golf course.
Witnesses gave information that led detectives to the suspect, Goetz said. Officers detained him shortly after the stabbing was a reported. He was at a house in the 3100 block of Hoyt Avenue.
Goetz did not discuss possible motives for the stabbing, but said there was no known gang involvement.
The dead man’s name was not released Thursday.
