Your ballot is on its way

EVERETT — More than 406,000 general election ballots will be mailed out today.

That means Snohomish County residents can expect to receive their ballots soon, said Garth Fell, the county elections and recording manager.

“People will start seeing them in mailboxes on Friday and over the weekend,” Fell said. “But it could take three to five days for people to get their ballots.”

Military and overseas ballots were mailed Sept. 21.

Snohomish County conducts all elections by mail. Voters must postmark ballots no later than Election Day, Nov 6. Ballots can also be deposited postage free at 11 drop boxes located throughout the county any time from when they’re received up until 8 p.m. on Nov. 6.

The auditor’s office is predicting an 85 percent voter turnout, Fell said. Voters should act now to make sure their registration information is correct, read and follow all instructions and return their ballots as soon as possible, he added.

People who return ballots can check that they’ve been received online at www.snoco.org/elections.

Those who aren’t registered to vote have until Oct. 29 to register in person at the Snohomish County Elections Department in Everett. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located on the first floor of the Snohomish County Administration Building at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. Office hours are set to be extended until 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 for new voters.

Voters’ pamphlets published by the Office of the Secretary of State and the Snohomish County Auditor also started arriving this week in mailboxes.
