EVERETT – A 15-year-old boy who nearly drowned in Silver Lake remained in critical condition Thursday at a Seattle hospital, Everett Fire Marshal Warren Burns said.
The boy was swimming with friends at Silver Lake City Beach on Wednesday when he went underwater then didn’t come back up, witnesses said.
The boy was under the water for about 10 minutes before Everett firefighters pulled him out.
Firefighter Grady Persons, who dove into the water to reach the boy, and two other firefighters used a boat that the fire department keeps at Silver Lake to bring him to shore.
The incident was likely an accident, police said.
The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle.
