BELLINGHAM — Two Boy Scouts and two leaders have been found safe after they were reported missing on an attempted summit of 10,781-foot Mount Baker.
Search and rescue officials say two 13-year-old boys and two adults were found safe Monday morning. The four are part of a Scout troop from Seattle.
Authorities say they spent the night in freezing temperatures but were dressed appropriately for the weather.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said the four were reported missing Sunday and a search started that afternoon.
Mount Baker is about 15 miles (24 kilometers) from the Canadian border and is one of the highlight peaks of the Cascade Mountain range.
