MOUNT VERNON — Authorities say the body of a Bellingham man last heard from Oct. 18 has been recovered from Sauk Mountain.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports county rescue teams on Friday were able to airlift the man’s body from the mountain to an airport in Concrete, Washington, where it was turned over to the Skagit County Coroner’s Office.
Skagit County Sheriff’s Sgt. Annette Lindquist says the man’s vehicle was found at a trailhead on the mountain Oct. 22 and that crews spotted the man’s body Thursday near a trail summit.
Lindquist says the man’s family has been notified. His name was not released.
