YELM — A horse’s tongue, found severed at a property here, was intentionally cut off the animal and the 28-year-old horse named Annie was euthanized Wednesday because the animal could not eat or drink without it.
Thurston County Sheriff’s Deputy Carrie Nastansky says the horse’s owner discovered the severed tongue in the backyard of her property Tuesday and found the horse bleeding from her mouth.
Nastansky says the preliminary necropsy results indicate intentional trauma, noting the cut was clean and the horse’s teeth would not have been able to bite through it.
Authorities say rewards are being offered for information leading to an arrest.
