KELSO — Authorities say a Kelso man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for trafficking large amounts of heroin and methamphetamine in southwest Washington and northwest Oregon.
The Daily News reported Raul Alvarado, 39, was sentenced this week after he was found guilty in May of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances involving about two pounds of heroin and about a pound of methamphetamine.
Authorities also recovered dozens of firearms they said Alvarado used to threaten people.
Investigation by multiple agencies revealed that between January 2014 and October 2015, Alvarado and another person partnered to sell methamphetamine and heroin.
At the sentencing hearing, prosecutors said Alvarado made violent armed threats to other drug dealers, rammed into a suspected informant’s vehicle and beat a female co-conspirator in front of other dealers in order to scare them.
