TACOMA — Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed by sheriff’s deputies south of Tacoma near Glenoma.
The News Tribune report that Robert Richardson, 40, of Graham, died of gunshot wounds, according to the Lewis County Coroner’s Office.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy and reserve deputy were on patrol when they came across Richardson in a vehicle early Sunday.
The sheriff’s office says deputies learned he had a felony warrant in Pierce County for child rape and child molestation and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says deputies shot him after Richardson pulled out a weapon and pointed it at them.
Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputies have been put on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
