ABERDEEN — A 64-year-old woman and her 45-year-old daughter have been arrested on suspicion of stealing nearly $400,000 from a hospital.
The arrests follow a nine-month investigation that began when administrators at Grays Harbor Community Hospital and Grays Harbor Physicians Services found a large amount of money missing from their accounts in April 2017.
Police say they were able to identify the two suspects with help from a financial audit.
Both the mother and daughter are former employees of the hospital. Police say the thefts started in September 2015 when the daughter started making direct deposits and depositing checks written to herself that she had access to through her payroll controller position.
Aberdeen police detectives arrested the suspects on Friday. Both were released from jail pending charges.
