SEQUIM — The Olympic Game Farm has denied allegations of mistreatment of the approximately 300 animals at the roadside zoo in response to a federal lawsuit filed late last year by the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
The Peninsula Daily News reported that the response was filed this week in U.S. District Court in Tacoma.
The lawsuit alleges the drive-thru wildlife exhibit doesn’t properly care for its animals, allowing visitors to feed them bread. It also claims the farm failed to give necessary medication to suffering animals, that facilities are inadequate and that it is in violation of the Endangered Species Act.
The game farm said only a few of the animals are threatened or endangered species and denies that bread is fed to them, with the possible exception of one brown bear. It also denies “that any animal was suffering or denied proper medical care.”
The game farm is asking the court to reject ALDF’s claims.
