SEATTLE — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a dump truck on southbound Interstate 5 in downtown Seattle around 7 a.m. Wednesday near Seneca Street.
It was not immediately known why a pedestrian was on the highway.
The incident was in the collector-distributor lanes and blocked the southbound I-5 exit to eastbound I-90. The crash caused a significant backup.
Because the crash was fatal, the closure lasted for hours while police and Washington State Department of Transportation crews investigated.
