SPOKANE — Numerous schools delayed or canceled classes after the biggest storm of the new year brought several inches of snow and slick roads to the inland Northwest.
Many school district in eastern Washington and northern Idaho cancelled classes or delayed the start of classes on Wednesday morning because of slick roads.
Closures included the school districts in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, Idaho.
The National Weather Service reported that Spokane International Airport received 4.5 inches in the storm, which began Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning. The snow turned to rain at the airport about 3 a.m.
The Weather Service received reports of 5 to 6 inches of snow in Colville and about 5 inches in Hayden, Idaho.
Mountain areas received 10 to 15 inches of snow.
