I urge you members of either party to vote for Clyde Shavers for the position of State Representative for the 10th Legislative District, Position 1. Here’s why: Shavers is a one-of-a-kind candidate dedicated to service. He had a long record of pitching in wholeheartedly preceding any thought to run for office; I like that, because in politics the reverse usually happens. On the personal level, I’ve heard Clyde speak to a neighborhood group; he is thoughtful, friendly, warm, searching his thoughts to speak rather than regurgitating talking points. Refreshing!
Rich with credentials: Naval Academy grad, eight years submarine officer; public affairs officer in the Middle and Far East; Yale Law School, then environmental law practice. Legally helping small farmers become sustainable, forests survive, drinking water stay pure, then deciding government service would help get to the root of problems he saw. He’s diving in and is engaging, eager to find common ground whether speaking to a Democrat or Republican. He goes doorbelling regularly to talk to people of all political stripes. Someone of substance like this is who I want for my representative in Olympia. Free that position from its partisan bickering and give it a multi-pronged benevolent mission!
Many influential folks around the 10th District have already crossed party lines, promising a vote for Clyde. He’s also endorsed by many in the military, law enforcement, unions, pro-choice groups, responsible gun owners, pilots, and numerous community leaders. He continues seriously campaigning as I write this. Let’s support him!
