Clyde Shavers worked very hard at being a state representative for the 10th Legislative District during his first term in office. He showed a large capacity for listening to folks and working with issues, following studies at the U.S. Naval Academy and then at Yale Law School. He is very courteous and considerate. When you speak with him you can tell that he hears. He does not like the bombastic style of politics, but he will take stands where it is right and he has courage. He uses his words well and can be an effective negotiator because of skillful clarity. Really, you can’t ask for a better person to fulfill a role in public service.
Since I met him I have been impressed. I have met quite a few people elected to public office over the years and I believe he has a lot of potential as highly intelligent and professional. He is very serious but has a sense of humor, a lawyer who can laugh at lawyer jokes.
