In fairness I do not know Helen Price Johnson’s opponent in the upcoming election for 10th Legislative District senator. I do know Helen. I am a Walla Walla County commissioner, and it’s been my privilege to work side by side with Helen for a number of years in our roles as county commissioners, at the state level working to develop real solutions to issues facing our constituents.
What I discovered early on is Helen’s willingness to set party ideology aside in pursuit of policies and legislation that benefits not only our individual counties but, indeed, the entire state. I have found the most receptive state senators and pepresentatives are those with a background rooted in local government leadership. That is why I wholeheartedly recommend to the citizens of the 10th district to send Price Johnson to the sate Senate.
Helen and I have served together for several years on the board of the Washington State Association of Counties and its Legislative Steering Committee as well as the board of the Washington Counties Insurance Fund. It is there that I developed an appreciation for Helen’s willingness to listen to the opinions and ideas of others, regardless of party affiliation, before making decisions.
She is pragmatic, thoughtful and always well prepared. Helen will continue be a tireless advocate for her constituents if elected to the Senate. She is exactly the kind of person we need in Olympia and, again, I urge you to send her there when you vote in in this most important election.
