This summer it appears I purchased a $30 Washington State Discover Pass that allows my license plate access to public lands.
While the legislators may have intended that the pass was for me and my family (real people) to have access to the state parks etc., the bureaucrats established that the pass was good only for one of my vehicles and that I need to buy a second pass if I want to go to the park in another of my vehicles.
Further, I contacted the state to ask what happens when, later this year, the state is going to require me get a new license plate when I renew my vehicle license. Their response was, “We don’t have a solution at this time.” So, apparently I haven’t even purchased access for one vehicle for an entire year, but only access for one set of license plates which will expire in a few months!
For the money I paid, I expect access for me and my family, not just access for 60 square inches of metal!
