Drop in the barrel: If BP’s latest attempt to control the flow of oil from its ruptured well head in the Gulf of Mexico is successful, it could pump enough oil to the surface to bring an estimated $1.4 million to BP each day.
Of course, they could probably make it an even $1.5 million daily if they just started wringing the crude from oil-soaked pelicans.
Gone, but not far: Seattle Mariner Ken Griffey Jr. has retired as a player, but he apparently will remain with the team in a new capacity. His agent said Griffey won’t have an in-uniform position with the M’s, but it could develop into such a role.
Which likely means that, at least for the remainder of the season, the jobs of the M’s batting coach and the Mariner Moose are safe.
