I read recently that if every American swapped one ordinary lightbulb for a compact fluorescent bulb, it would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes in a year and dramatically cut carbon dioxide emissions.
How many lightbulbs would we have to change in order to offset the fuel used by the news helicopter that hovered around our neighborhood for a couple of hours on Oct. 17, filming activity surrounding the suspected bank robber’s house, all for a five second overhead shot on the news that day?
