A truly special place worth preserving

Regarding your July 29 editorial, I say three cheers for the U.S. Senate for unanimously passing the Wild Sky Wilderness bill.

I, along with 30 other “Great Old Broads for Wilderness,” many of us in our 60s, 70s and beyond, recently camped for four nights in Index and spent some time getting to know this beautiful area.

I would encourage others to come and visit the Wild Sky this summer, support and Sky Valley businesses, hike the trails and see for yourself how special this place really is. You’ll see firsthand why it’s so important we take steps to preserve it for future generations.
