The “Champions on Ice” show in Everett on Saturday couldn’t have been a more wonderful or exciting show. It was like having the “best of the Olympics” show right up here in town, for us to enjoy. Not only did it have the top skaters in the world, nearly all of this year’s Olympic medalists. But their performances were just as excellent as in the Olympics, if not better. The skating was spectacular. It also was a wonderful show all around, including exceptional acrobatic and comedy performances.
I felt so lucky to be able to see such spectacular athletes perform at such a high level in person. And here they were, right in town. Obviously we are lucky to have the Events Center to draw such a wonderful event. But also a very special “thank you” to the athletes for their very considerable time and effort in doing this show, and for taking their sensational talent on the road to share with the public. This was no watered-down or lackluster performance. They mostly put the effort into the quality of their performances as if they were competing for “gold.” This is no easy thing to do repeatedly. How lucky we were to see it.
