About a month ago I fell off my roof. The accident launched a domino effect of miracles involving the people of Valley General Hospital who ordered the chopper to Harborview for more life-saving treatment.
After being home for a week, an injury-related complication earned me another gurney ride in Valley General’s ER and a transfer to Everett’s Providence Medical Center for two plus weeks in critical care.
Grateful beyond words, I’m “out of the woods now,” as they say. But, that’s how I spent my summer vacation.
Looking back, I only now realize that two of our children were born at Valley General in Monroe. Our youngest daughter couldn’t stop crying last Christmas Eve until Valley General’s emergency room got her pain-free from a scald. My bride’s best friend has undergone two successful spinal operations there, creating quality of life with state-of-the-art care at Valley General.
ll this from a guy who always thought a hospital visit would never happen to him. I learned the hard way that voting yes for the hospital bond is no cerebral event – it’s a true no-brainer. Use your full faculties. Take care of yourself. Vote yes!
