As a senior, I was outraged but not surprised by AARP’s endorsement of the House version of Obamacare! The December issue of AARP’s magazine attempts to justify its position by listing seven reasons for its support. AARP’s mental decline is most evident when it claims that the bill “expands health care coverage without adding to the deficit”! No one believes this! The truth is no one really knows how much it will cost because its assumptions in 2,100 pages are so unrealistic.
Medicare is a fiscal disaster, so you can imagine the financial success of a government health program! What is clear to the majority of AARP’s members is that they are much more concerned with the whole doughnut than the doughnut hole! AARP is in denial when it fails to mention why there is zero bipartisan support for this socialized medicine bill, which will ration care to the very seniors it claims to represent and places an enormous financial burden on their grandchildren.
Polls show that a substantial majority of seniors oppose any public option and the Senate version supposedly removed this provision. But, AARP’s vision is blurring since it fails to see through the smoke and mirrors of the bill’s impact on private insurance rates and costs to business, which will eventually result in the demise of private insurance, leaving the government as sole insurer.
I urge you to do as I have done, return your cut up membership card to AARP and cancel your membership!
As we approach the Christmas season it is apparent the Democratic Congress and President Obama have decided to assume the role of Scrooge, even working on Christmas Eve! I can hear Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid now in unison saying, “Bah Humbug to the taxpayer”! Let’s hope in 2010 someone comes to rescue Tiny Tim…
