Now that we’re midway through October, signs of fall are everywhere:
The leaves are turning orange. So is the LynnÂwood library, which, according to FYI, is displaying an orange-themed art exhibit called “Orange Crush.”
Lest ye get any bright ideas, you will not be able to fool the librarians into believing that books covered in orange juice, orange crayon or orange Cheeto fingerprints are part of the exhibit.
The weather is going gray. In today’s Street Smarts, reporter Lukas Velush reminds drivers to turn on their lights so their vehicles will stand out better from the gray conditions, gray road and gray traffic.
For more ideas on how to increase your vehicle’s visibility, you may want to visit the “Orange Crush” exhibit.
The birds are migrating. A flock of whooping cranes born in captivity began their first journey to Florida on Saturday, led by an ultralight aircraft.
The migration takes about two months, but unlike many adults taking trips with children, the pilot leading the way won’t have to break up fights in the back seat or hear “Are we there yet?” every 15 minutes.
Ain’t no mountain high enough: We noticed a story today about a man in Japan who hopes to become the oldest to scale Mount Everest, at age 75.
If he’s not tired of climbing when he’s done with that, he may want to consider joining up with a group of climbers who recently hauled a portable hot tub to the top of Mont Blanc in the Alps, then had a nice soak at the summit.
We suspect the hardest part of the climbers’ endeavor wasn’t hauling all that gear to the top of the mountain, but surviving the cold while they were changing from their wet swimsuits back into their climbing clothes.
For more about their trip, complete with photos from the summit, go to their Web site.
