I have a question for anyone who would like to play along. In what industry do the employees, not the employers, get to dictate both their own salary and their own benefits package?
Well, if you didn’t guess yet, that would be the United States government.
Yes, even a one-term congressperson or senator will receive a lifetime pension equal to what the office paid during their term with the added benefit of a lifetime health care program added in for good measure.
Let’s face it, we the people are the owners and employers of the federal government. And as such, we the people should expect nothing less than what our employees have entitled to themselves, without asking our opinions.
There is a solution. It’s time for all of America’s citizens to file a class action lawsuit against the United States with the express purpose of being included, free of charge, into the federal health insurance program.
As employers and citizens, we should not be expected to settle for a Medicaid, Medicare or other prescription drug benefit that our elected officials would want nothing to do with if they were forced to be a part of it.
When it comes to health care, what’s good for one should be good for all!
