I would like to thank Jim Strickland for his kind words in his July 29 letter. The support of the community is vital to the work we do at Sharing Wheels and there are many other volunteers who make it possible.
From the neighborhood kids who come in and help sort out donated parts to the low-income adults who “Work for Wheels” for transportation, the members of the board and our trained volunteer mechanics. They all deserve applause.
One thing I have learned, although one can make the difference, it takes good people to support the effort. Two individuals who have encouraged me to do more are Dave Bell and Kristi Knodell. Dave encouraged me to move forward on my vision of a community bike shop. Kristi’s dedication to our growth is unmatched. She is an active bicycle advocate, great mechanic and friend.
True democracy happens when people come together to answer a social need, work side by side for a common cause and everyone is empowered to make a difference equally. Join the spoke folk revolution and bike4peace.
