This letter is in response to the letter where the writer states that he hates to see Ms. Obama, her mother and daughters traveling the world in luxurious style on the taxpayer dime. (“Fed program an expensive bust.”)
My husband and I visited Plains, Georgia, where former President Jimmy Carter teaches Bible study (the study is open to the public). We noticed four Secret Service agents surrounding former President Carter, four agents surrounding Ms. Carter and approximately 15 agents around the church. This protection is provided all living presidents on the taxpayer dime, at home or while they travel and rightly so. Presidents and their families have to pay for all food, lodging and travel expenses out of their own funds. Any news source that tries to inflame you to believe otherwise is purposefully trying to mislead you.
