It seems that a lot of people have seen the plans for the upgrade to Harvey Field. Then they get to write a letter to The Herald and put their years of expertise in print and support the expansion.
Well, I have never seen the plans to expand Harvey Field; I do not know the Harveys. I only have flown in a small non-commercial aircraft once and I am not yet as old as these other guys and I still don’t know how these planes get up in the air but I do have one qualification. I live on Fobes Hill. Every summer weekend and evening I get to hear these small planes fly right over my head. We have to interrupt conversations until they fly on and we can tell the rookies from the experienced pilots. Since moving to the area over 18 years ago the noise is getting louder. We have even experienced one mid-air collision since then. If expansion is going to increase the noise we have to put up with then I am against it. As I quote from a recent letter, “I fully support their efforts to make the airport better for all.” Better for the people who use the airport, but what about those who live around it? Let us look at this so it is “better for all” and keep those around the airport and those that have to put up with the noise in the mix.
