Sheriff Adam Fortney is not the only citizen who is concerned about our rights being taken away during this coronavirus. I have for a while wondered why the lives of our “essential workers” can be risked without their permission, but we do not have the right to make the decision for ourselves.
I think I have the ability to take the appropriate measures to keep myself safe whenever I do have to go out in public. I do not want to risk the health of anyone else so I am not about to do anything careless when outside of my house.
Since the testing is not available to everyone we do not have an accurate count of who has the virus and who does not. Therefore the results that we hear from the governor of who is infected cannot possibility give us a true picture of the risk that anyone of us faces day to day.
The time to let us make our own decisions about the risks that we are willing to take has come. It does not make sense that prisoners are being let out early because of the risks to their health but we are still prisoners in our own homes because we have not demonstrated our ability to make sound decisions for ourselves.
I feel that the governor has been talking out of both sides of his mouth for too long and it is time for a change. He tells us to stay at home but also support the businesses that have essential workers who are continually being put at risk. If he is looking out for the health and safety of everyone then why was the decision make by him to have our largest employer, Boeing, return to work?
It is no wonder that so many people think that this entire thing is politically motivated.
Enough is enough, it is time to let us out to make the decisions that we are all capable of doing and get back to the business of supporting our families.
