I read with great emotion about the closing of the boat ramp in Snohomish. I’ve used that launch for over 20 years. I own a 13-foot V-hull aluminum boat that’s pretty safe.
The council in Snohomish is misinformed when it suggests that all fishermen must do is either go to Everett or Monroe to fish the stretch of river by Snohomish. You can’t get there from Monroe. The river is impassable, except for jet boats. You can from Everett, but the river has sandbars, very shallow bottoms in areas, and dangerous snags. This alternative is going to increase the danger of the river to many of us. To say that all that is occurring because of the closure is a little extra time just isn’t true.
The area that the council is effectively closing to much of the fishing community is too beautiful for words to adequately express.
I ask the council to please give deeper thought to the closure and to listen to others besides your insurance agent before making a final decision.
