In his Monday letter, “Americans didn’t receive a tax cut,” the writer claims that there was a reduction in withholding for federal income tax without a corresponding reduction in taxes. This statement is false. The withholding reduction was directly related to the “make work pay” credit ($400 for individuals and $800 for joint filers).
I’m disappointed that The Herald would publish a letter containing obviously false information. (I’m assuming that The Herald editors read letters before they publish them, and that they have a rudimentary knowledge of current affairs.) Like one old pol said, “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but no one is entitled to their own facts.”
