During the recent week, various media outlets have listed the names of candidates standing for election or re-election to various state and local offices. A prime candidate, Dan Anderson, is standing for re-election to Position 3 on the Arlington City Council.
I recommend voters cast their ballots in support of Mr. Anderson’s candidacy. His service in the Arlington City Council was coupled concurrently with service as a sergeant in the Washington State Patrol and in the Washington Army National Guard as the intelligence sergeant of a Special Forces unit. This military service included a tour of duty in the Afghan-Iraqi theater during combat operations. In each of these serving positions, Mr. Anderson has displayed the highest ethical, moral and political values, standards and personal courage. In each case, he adhered strictly to his oath of office or enlistment and in the laws governing the activities and duties of each position.
Mr. Anderson has worked to bring into City Council political discussions the interests and views of the citizenry, instead of relying on the views of political special-interest groups. He has worked to make the discussions of the City Council more readily available to the public and in maintenance projects having adequate spending controls.
I believe Anderson’s seniority and experience in past council service, his demonstrated ethical values and his maturity and accomplishments merit re-election to the Arlington City Council and strongly recommend citizens casting their votes for him.
