Unless I misunderstood what Mark Stocker wrote in his Nov. 18 letter to the editor (“Initiative 776: Nullification is right move for counties”) regarding the area sub-equity rule: I live in Everett, and pay an additional 0.4 percent sales tax for the RTA, I also pay 0.3 percent in license fees when I license my car.
I, for one, don’t believe that the RTA will ever build anything. Additionally, I am angry that the RTA issued bonds backed by future tax collections, thereby insuring their future existence. I am also appalled by the total ignorance by the people of this state regarding the tax structure. The pro-tax people let the elite make their decisions, while the anti-tax people let Eyman be their guide.
I will vote for any anti-tax initiative that will hamstring the government until they come to the realization that they are public servants. As public servants, they should ask us our opinions, rather then spending millions of dollars shoving theirs down our throats.
