Once again the oil companies have us over a barrel (pun intended). They are laughing all the way to the bank. Mark my words, the next earnings report will show record profits. All these excuses, and that is what they are, i.e., Cherry Point refinery fire, fear of unrest in the Middle East, and it is only fear, not reality.
Demand? OK. The oil companies spell demand: g-r-e-e-d. In my opinion, they could absorb these setbacks without blinking an eye, pocket change. Anyone remember Enron, the big energy company that actually recorded themselves laughing over what they were doing to the consumer? Are not the oil companies energy companies as well? In my opinion, the only difference between Enron and the oil companies is that the oil company executives are not serving time … yet!
