In response to the reader from Marysville who panned the mail service and lauded The Herald delivery service in the aftermath of the snow storm: we had just the opposite experience up in the eastside hills behind Arlington down near the end of a narrow and steep no-outlet road.
Our mail carrier came through daily (admittedly with his 4-wheel driver truck, and our road in had earlier been plowed out, if somewhat narrowly) but our Herald and Times carriers were no-shows for two days, and I don’t blame them given the conditions; we certainly shouldn’t expect people to risk their lives merely to convenience us.
We couldn’t get out of our own hilly driveway safely even with my Jeeps, until I could shovel out wheel tracks down to the road. Individual circumstances and capabilities vary from situation to situation.
We have the finest mail service in the world, and should appreciate what they do for us every day.
