AquaSox fans, players value game coverage in print edition

My husband and I have been regular subscribers of The Herald for many years. We started subscribing for the local sports news.

This year you have reduced your coverage of the local sports news to a select few sports with the Seattle Mariners being one and the Silvertips being another with occasional Little League and high school coverage.

We have been host parents for the Everett AquaSox since 1995, and having that newspaper on the breakfast table for our “kids” in the morning has been a treasured memory since that time. However, now we have to huddle around our computer or all pull out our hand-held devices to read your somewhat sparse coverage of the game we were at or in the night before.

News flash for you: We do not enjoy reading on the electronic devices. Why do we pay money to get a printed newspaper that covers nothing but political trash. A local newspaper should be covering local news including all local sports of all kinds in printed form. We stopped getting the Seattle Times because they are not local news!

We are not the only subscribers who care about this. Other season ticket holders and hosts feel the same way. Over the years we have made many scrapbooks using the printed newspaper reports for the “kids” we are hosting. Having their names in print delivered to our front door has meaning and value to them. Not to mention the wonderful conversations that developed around the table reading through the paper.

It is totally understood we are becoming a techy-ed society, but why make it worse, why continue that theme? Why not rise above this and make your paper worthy of purchasing? When our subscription runs out we will definitely rethink the value of purchasing your product. There are still some people who do not use their electronic devices to run their lives.
