I am writing this letter in response to your article on Nov. 12 about Derar Mousa (“The Palestine question”). I simply do not understand why someone who thinks of Yasser Arafat as a statesman who struggled “valiantly” on behalf of the Palestinian people would be allowed in this country.
If anything, “valiantly” should be changed to violently. Yasser Arafat compiled a record of terror and bloodshed throughout his entire life, from blowing-up airplanes, orchestrating homicide bombings in Israel, the mass murder of 10,000 Christians in the Lebanon civil war, the murder of 11 unarmed Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, and many other atrocities. Though the blood may not be directly on his hands, his orders have inevitably killed thousands.
Yet, a friend of mine who is a Taiwanese citizen, attended high school in Marysville and is married to a U.S. citizen isn’t even allowed to visit while his paperwork gets slowly pushed through the many layers of bureaucracy as he waits outside the United States. Mr. Mousa, a sympathizer to a blood-thirsty ghoul, is allowed to enjoy the freedom that was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001 – a day some of the Palestinian people rejoiced at the horrible attack on the very freedom Mr. Mousa is enjoying today.
