Now that the high school football season is ending, I feel free to write a letter of complaint about Archbishop Murphy’s football program and the fact they are at level 2A and not higher.
From a competitive standpoint, they should be elevated to 3A or 4A for an equal playing field within the league. This would level the conference for all 2A teams and make talent more balanced.
All that the other teams have to look forward to is second place. Since it is impossible for another team to climb any higher against Archbishop Murphy, then why not just forfeit the game altogether and concede first place?
As reported The Herald, Archbishop Murphy had won its first 10 games this season and outscored opponents 438-123. The first half was worse, 271- 28. One game was 77-6.
Archbishop Murphy fans remind me of the “Stepford Wives”: “Ho-hum, another touchdown, yawn.” It’s as if something as monotonous as a score has occurred and it is to be expected with little or no fanfare.
Questions that should be asked and researched about Archbishop Murphy and its football program: 1. Are there any WIAA violations? 2. Are there any violations in recruiting methods or financial aid rewards?
I encourage all who care to write WIAA, 435 Main Ave. S., Renton, WA 98507 or call 425-687-8585, or visit their Web site at: www.wiaa.com for copies of the regulations.
