Regarding the July 29 Herald article, “Lunch is on the table for kids in need,” this is a letter from a Scrooge.
I passed by the local town bulletin board and I saw an item posted there offering “free lunch for kids.” The school-year is not even in session. Given that schools are always needing more funds through taxes and levies to meet today’s educational standards, the burden is placed on homeowners, whether they have kids or not. I am a little lost as to why schools are in the restaurant business. As the old saying goes, “there is so such thing as a free lunch.”
