My wife and I are thrilled about the idea of getting a stadium 10 minutes from our house. The stories we have been reading about in The Herald all seem to revolve around the opposition. My wife and I believe that Everett can afford to lose one or two historic buildings to see the removal of all the other eye-sores on the corner of Broadway and Hewitt.
Do people remember what the neighborhoods around the Kingdome looked like before its construction? The stadiums in Seattle have enhanced a once-dilapidated area of Seattle. Buildings are being restored at a fast pace and people flock to the city centers to spend their dollars and leave with a sense of pride. This will happen to Hewitt and the Historic Society will get what they want also.
Pioneer Square is known nationwide and is a huge tourist attraction for Seattle. The Everett City Council is reviving downtown and should all be given a pat on the back for what has been accomplished thus far. As for the anti-stadium people – boo-hiss. And to the Everett City Council: I’m coming downtown and I’m bringing money!
