Interesting measures to kill sea lions (“Time to cull Columbia’s salmon-eating sea lions,” The Herald, June 7) and open culverts (“Supreme Court affirms tribes in case of salmon and culverts,” The Herald, June 11), but maybe we are not seeing the “elephant in the room.”
Perhaps, we should restrict or discontinue gill netting across the mouths of rivers when salmon are returning to spawn as long as the numbers are low.
