Regarding the Feb. 1 article, “Arlington to buy 150 acres for conservation park”:
In today’s economy, where will a small town like Arlington find the money to pay $4 million for 150 acres to be used as a “visionary” park? The Herald article says part of the down payment comes from another government agency. Does the rest of the cost come from other government agencies? Which ones? How much is this purchase going to cost the taxpayers of Arlington, Snohomish County, and the state of Washington? Will the remainder of the cost come from Obama’s “stimulus package” funds?
Snohomish County property tax bills will be sent out later this month (they always go out after the February school levy elections are held). You all better take a closer look at them. Every time you vote yes for an initiative, proposition, or government purchase; you will pay for it in additional taxes and debt.
