Thank you,. Larry Henry, for writing such a wonderful article about my grandmother, Ida Rush, and The Herald for running it. (Sunday, “Grandma AquaSox.”)
Gramma is all of what you wrote and more. She is caring, loving, forgiving and a loyal creature of habit.
Gramma missed several games during August of 1985 when she came to Germany to visit our family and see her ancestral Holland. When she called Grampa to check in, she had to know how her team was doing.
I flew back with her then to live with my grandparents for my senior year of high school. The very day we got back, she was at a game, jet lagged and all.
All of us grandkids knew that if we were visiting during football season, it was the Huskies on Saturday and the Seahawks on Sunday, do not interrupt her game and crocheting!
Grampa wasn’t the avid sports fan like her, but sucked it up just to spend the time with her. It was the year I lived with Gramma that gave me a true love for football.
On more than one occasion I have called during a game with crocheting in my hands saying “Gramma, I’m turning into you!” For that I am blessed!
On behalf of our family, we are proud to share our Gramma with the AquaSox and the rest of Everett.
