Article didn’t tell the whole story

It is impossible not to respond to the August 10 article titled: “Candidate haunted by 1997 charge.” Regrettably, Herald writer Susanna Ray haunts the reader with unanswered questions. Detailing unprovable charges expunged to provide a subsequent unblemished record, Ms. Ray flogs a dead horse to impugn.

The thoughtful reader must consider the real unstated questions.

First, do laws providing expungement for a clean subsequent record apply to everyone? If so, why is an expunged case resurrected without further basis? Who is next in the spotlight on erased charges?

Secondly, why are Mr. Samodurov’s current considerable accomplishments unmentioned? Was this unresearched, intentionally omitted, or absent due to ulterior purpose?

Thirdly, why are character affirmations drawn only from pat, rather than current, contacts? What testimonial does his current pastor/mentor give? Was this researched but not reported, or not researched?

Finally, who is the ghost behind the haunting? Did uncreativity, lack of diligence or character, or ulterior motive open up this campaign of deflection?

What kind of leadership do we really want? Character building or character assassination? Brent Samodurov offers the former – with integrity.
