I know many people who have had their gallbladders removed due to a low-fat diet. I also know many people who are overweight and have adult onset diabetes with many serious health complications due to this. I am battling my weight. In the old days we used to say “I am not dieting, just cutting out my sugars and starches.” Today that diet has a name: the Atkins Diet.
This is the only diet that works for me. I have tried at least 25 other programs and/or fads. My family and I are healthier and more active than we have ever been. We used to go through 10 pounds of sugar per week (and cases of soda). Now we drink water and sugar-free drinks. If I were to die today (God forbid) while still overweight and on the Atkins diet – please do not blame him! My family and I are on the road to better health and slimmer bodies due to the changes we have incorporated in our diet. My children and grandchildren all love broccoli, so the diet can’t be all bad! As with anything, moderation is the key! As always, talk to your dietician or physician before starting any diet.
