If Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon had any political aspirations higher than his current position, they sure seem to be gone now. Whether the allegations against him are a case of a lover scorned or not (or in his case, lovers scorned), ignoring the media will not help his cause.
Politicians in this country at any level deserve the right to fight any accusations made against them, but continuously avoiding the press only makes them look more guilty. Combined with the fact that Tamara Dutton has produced numerous records to indicate that county funds were used for things other than county business, well, it just does not look good for Mr. Reardon. The Washington State Patrol and its investigation will have the final say in this matter, but if these allegations turn out to be true then I think the only right thing for him to do is to resign.
