Axthelm would represent us well

Would you support good government that demonstrates fiscal resourcefulness? Fire District 22 is proven to have your tax dollars’ best interest in mind. The fire station is staffed with cross-trained volunteer firefighter EMTs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and they are paid $8 an hour for a shift. The revenue used to train these volunteers is often received through grant funding. All defibrillators carried on FD 22’s apparatus were paid for through fundraisers. FD 22 established an agreement with a neighboring fire district in which we acquired a used aid car for $1 – in exchange we maintain the aid car and occasionally assist them with response services.

In 2002 FD 22 assisted state fire agencies combating forest fires in Eastern Washington. The revenue FD 22 made leasing equipment enabled the fire district to purchase a new brush fire engine at no cost to our constituents. Recently our department acquired a quality used fire engine for $2,000 from a busy fire department. The engine was mechanically sound, however the exterior looked extremely rough. Volunteer firefighters completely refurbished that engine.

These are just a few of the many examples FD 22 is making your tax dollars go further, saving you thousands of dollars and maximizing service capabilities. FD 22 will ask voters to approve an emergency medical services measure on Tuesday. The revenue will fund 24-hour on-duty firefighter/EMTs, so that FD 22 can enhance response times. We have proven fiscal responsibility and demonstrated resourcefulness. You can count on FD 22 to do the same with the revenue from the EMS levy. Please support good government on Tuesday.
