I think I may just be reiterating an already popular theory, but indulge for a moment, won’t you?
If President Obama thinks that a $500 tax break for each person in the U.S. will be of any help, he is sorely mistaken. My idea involves holding Big Business accountable for their misdeeds as well as rewarding hard-working Americans and putting the economy back in a solvent state.
The government is dolling out $700 billion to the incompetent corporations that got themselves in their current situation to begin with. There are currently 305,687,188 Americans in this country. If you subtract the Americans ineligible to receive a tax break (children), this will leave approximately 231 million to receive a tax break. Now forgive me for sounding like a socialist, but if the government took it upon itself to re-distribute that same $700 billion of our tax money to us in equal portions, I firmly believe that we, the U.S. taxpayer, would revive the failing economy and the failing housing market all in one fell swoop.
But that is asking a lot, having our own money returned to us … isn’t it? I mean, Big Brother knows best, right?
