The city of Everett discussed tax increase possibilities Wednesday night in the council meeting. No brainers, Snohomish County is retaining the fees for pet licenses on animals in Everett City limits. Increase fees on development in line to other municipalities. Some fees have not increased since 1995.
Demand tickets get paid before impound vehicle get released.
I disagree with parking meters in town or at the transit center, or an increase in B&O tax.
I brought up some of the easiest solution to balancing the budget, a little work to change a few laws but what a change they would bring to this city.
1. Move city personnel from positions and departments that are overstaffed to vacancies.
2. Large monetary penalty associated with code compliance issues if not cleaned up. Shorten the process 10 days to clean up, period.
3. Stiff fines for false alarm responses by the police. Third $50; fourth $100; fifth $150.
4. Unmarked police car, or plains cloth officer standing at a stop light taking picture for a mailed ticket.
5. Photo enforce Broadway and Rucker.
6. Raise tax on non-profit pull tabs and bingo to what others are paying!
7. Slow down expenditures on Riverfront project too many millions have gone into this partnership.
8. Ask the employees of the city of Everett for their ideas, they have solutions! Listen.
Balance the budget without tax increases!
