Thank you, Phil Bannan, for bringing to the attention of the taxpayers of Everett and Mukilteo that their pockets are being picked by commissioners Jim Shaffer and Don Hopkins. I agree that the port should manage incoming revenues to pay for its capital improvement projects.
I would like to see an article by The Herald covering how much money is already in the port’s coffers for general expenses and capital improvements. I think it sends a loud message when one of the three commissioners says that the port does not need to collect more tax dollars. I encourage commissioners Shaffer and Hopkins to reverse their votes and take Mr. Bannan’s advice.
If only the commissioners would manage our tax dollars wisely and consider the people who are already struggling to pay their taxes.
